Hammered sheet metal is a decorative stainless steel sheet produced through a specialised hammer rolling process. Structured rolls press a repeating indentured texture into the steel surface, creating a 3D pattern that catches light from multiple angles. The result is a tactile, light-scattering finish used widely in architecture, interior design, and decorative fabrication.
Stainlessinox LLP, situated in Lower Parel, manufactures and supplies decorative hammered sheet metal from our facility in Khopoli, near Mumbai. With over 30 years of experience and ISO certification, we supply one of India's largest decorative stainless steel hammered sheets to architects, interior designers, elevator manufacturers, sheet metal fabricators, kitchen equipment manufacturers, hospitality fit-out contractors, and art and sculpture studios across the country.
We offer hammered stainless steel sheets in thicknesses ranging from 0.5 mm to 2.0 mm, widths up to 1,500 mm, and lengths up to 6,000 mm. Standard sizes include 1000x2000 mm, 1220x2440 mm (4x8 ft), and 1500x3000 mm. We also provide custom-cut-to-size hammered steel sheets on request. Single-sided embossed and double-sided hammer-rolled textures are produced, with PVD colour coating in 7 shades and anti-fingerprint treatment as add-on options. Common applications include facade cladding, wall panels, ceiling decoration, elevator interiors, range hood cladding, and furniture accents.

Hammered finish sheet metal comes with 3 surface treatment types: mechanical finishes (brushed, polished), PVD colour coating, and patina/antique finishes.

Brushed (No.4) hammered sheets carry a directional grain beneath the hammered texture, reducing reflectivity and masking fingerprints. Mirror-polished (8K) variants reflect light sharply off each dimple contour, producing high-contrast depth. Brushed is the standard for commercial and high-traffic areas. Mirror polish works best in luxury retail and hospitality interiors.

PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) applies a titanium-based colour layer in a vacuum chamber at 0.3 to 1.0 microns thickness. The coating bonds at the molecular level and won't fade, peel, or discolour. We coat in gold, rose gold, champagne gold, black, bronze, sapphire blue, and silver. Elevator cabins, shopfitting projects, and reception areas are common specifications for PVD-coated hammered stainless steel sheets.

Antique patina treatment applies a chemical process over the hammered stainless steel to create a darkened, aged appearance. Recessed dimples hold the patina colour while raised surfaces are polished back, highlighting the 3D texture. Heritage restoration projects, boutique hotels, and upscale restaurant interiors prefer this finish category.
Hammered stainless steel sheets are available from 0.5 mm to 2.0 mm. Thinner gauges at 0.5 mm to 0.8 mm suit wall cladding and ceiling panels where weight matters. Sheets at 1.0 mm and 1.2 mm work for elevator cabins and furniture components. The 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm options handle countertop and column cladding where rigidity is needed. Hammer textures appear more defined on thicker gauges because the rolls press deeper impressions.
We stock hammered sheet metal in 3 standard sizes and also offer custom cutting for project-specific dimensions. The table below lists available stock options.
| Size (mm) | Size (ft/in) | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| 1000 x 2000 | ~3.3 x 6.6 ft | Standard stock |
| 1220 x 2440 | 4 x 8 ft | Standard stock |
| 1500 x 3000 | ~5 x 10 ft | Available on order |
| Custom | Cut to specification | On request |
Maximum width is 1,500 mm (59 in). Maximum length reaches 6,000 mm (236 in). Custom sizes are available above the minimum order quantity. For large facade and ceiling projects, we cut panels to match the exact dimensions from your shop drawings.
Decorative hammered sheet metal serves 3 major application areas: architecture and facades, hospitality and interior design, and kitchen and residential projects.

Common questions about our hammered sheet metal answered by our technical team.
Hammered sheet metal is also known as beaten metal sheet, embossed sheet, textured sheet, or dimpled sheet, depending on the process and region. European trade terms include martelé (French), gehämmertes Blech (German), chapa martillada (Spanish), and lamiera martellata (Italian).
Hammered sheets are produced through a hammer rolling process in which stainless steel passes between custom-designed structured rolls. The rolls press a repeating dimpled pattern into the surface, creating a 3D texture. We offer both single-sided (embossed) and double-sided (hammer-rolled) options.
Standard sizes: 1000x2000 mm, 1220x2440 mm (4x8 ft), and 1500x3000 mm. Maximum width is 1,500 mm. Maximum length is 6,000 mm. Custom cut-to-size sheets are available on request.
Hand-hammered sheets are struck individually by a craftsman to create irregular patterns on every piece. Machine-embossed sheets (hammer-rolled) pass through structured rollers that press a consistent, repeatable texture throughout the full sheet. Machine embossing is more cost-effective for large orders and delivers uniform results across every sheet in the batch.
We stock 4 pattern types: small dimple (uniform), random hammered (organic), deep hammered (distressed), and ripple/bark. Each produces a different light reflection and shadow effect on the surface.
Yes. Stainless steel is food-safe and won't corrode in kitchen environments. The hammered texture hides scratches from everyday activity. Anti-fingerprint coating reduces visible smudge marks near cooking and prep surfaces.
