Stainless Steel Mirror Sheet

Stainless steel mirror sheet (also called No. 8 finish or 8K mirror finish) is a highly reflective, non-directional polished steel sheet. The mirror surface is created through progressively finer mechanical polishing or chemical wet polishing. This is followed by buffing with rouge compound to remove all directional lines. The result is a specular, near-glass surface with reflectivity comparable to an actual mirror. Surface roughness on a true No. 8 finish falls below Ra 0.2 microns. Each sheet ships with PE protective film to prevent surface damage during transportation and handling.

OUR TYPES

Stainless Steel Mirror Sheet Types

Mirror finish stainless steel sheet is available in many reflectivity grades: 6K (semi-mirror), 8K (standard mirror, equivalent to No. 8 per ASTM A480), 10K (super mirror), and BA mirror (Bright Annealed). PVD colour coating and anti-fingerprint treatment can be applied over any mirror base. This section covers each mirror finish grade and the surface coating options.

Mirror Finish Grades
6K, 8K, 10K, BA

Mirror Finish Grades (6K, 8K, 10K, Super Mirror)

The mirror finish grade decides reflectivity level and surface quality. Each grade is produced through a different depth of mechanical polishing. The number (6K, 8K, 10K) indicates the level of the final polish stage.

Finish Grade Description Reflectivity
6K Semi-mirror finish with moderate reflectivity; faint polishing lines may be visible Medium
8K (No. 8 per ASTM A480) Standard mirror finish; non-directional, high-gloss, reflective surface High
10KSuper mirror finish; finer polish with fewer surface imperfections Very High
Super Mirror (12K+)Ultra-high reflectivity; produced through extended polishing stages for blemish-free clarity Highest
BA Mirror Bright Annealed finish (EN 10088 designation: 2R); near-mirror reflectivity achieved through annealing in an oxygen-free atmosphere after cold rolling High

How Mirror Finishes Are Produced

8K mirror finish is the standard choice for stainless steel mirror sheet. It is made by polishing with progressively finer abrasives, followed by buffing with rouge compound to remove all directional lines. The result is a non-directional, specular surface. 10K and 12K super mirror finishes go further, with additional polishing stages that bring surface roughness below Ra 0.05 microns.

Two production methods exist for No. 8 mirror finish. Dry polishing can only reach a No. 7 finish, which still shows faint directional lines. Wet polishing (chemical polishing) produces a true No. 8 non-directional mirror surface that is transparent, cleaner at the microscopic level, and more resistant to bacterial adhesion. We use wet polishing at our Khopoli facility to achieve consistent 8K and 10K results.

BA mirror finish takes a different route. The sheet is cold rolled using polished rolls and then annealed in an inert gas atmosphere. This process creates a reflective surface without mechanical polishing, though the reflectivity doesn't match a true 8K finish.

PVD Coloured & Anti-Fingerprint Mirror Sheet

PVD colour coating can be applied over any mirror base to produce coloured stainless steel mirror sheet in gold, rose gold, black, bronze, champagne gold, sapphire blue, silver, and green. The PVD layer is 1 to 2 microns thick, harder than electroplated coatings, and won't fade over time. Anti-fingerprint treatment can be added on top of either uncoated or PVD-coated mirror surfaces.

Our Applications

Stainless Steel Mirror Sheet Industrial Applications

Below are 4 primary application areas of stainless steel mirror sheet: architecture and interior design, elevator and escalator cladding, food and beverage equipment, and automotive and signage.

Architecture & Interior Design
Facade panels, lobby walls, column cladding, ceiling panels, and reception backdrops all use mirror finish for its ability to reflect surrounding light and visually expand interior spaces. Architects in India commonly specify mirror sheet for interior projects. Mirror stainless steel panels can be flat-mounted, V-grooved for tight bends, or laser-cut into decorative patterns.
Elevator & Escalator Cladding
Elevator cabin interiors are the single largest application segment for decorative mirror stainless steel sheet in India. Standard cabin panels use 0.8 mm to 1.2 mm thick mirror sheet, with PVD coating available for colour-matched interiors.
Food & Beverage Equipment
Mirror finish stainless steel sheets meet the hygienic surface requirements of food and pharmaceutical processing. The smooth, non-porous No. 8 surface doesn't trap bacteria and can be easily cleaned. Mirror polished stainless steel sheet is used in equipment housings, splashbacks, and countertops. They are also found in wall cladding in commercial kitchens, dairy plants, and beverage production facilities.
Automotive & Signage
SS mirror finish sheet metal is used in cars and signs where a shiny look and rust resistance are important. Car parts like trim panels, grille accents, and decorative mouldings often use thin mirror stainless steel sheets. Signage fabricators use mirror sheet for backlit channel letters, display boards, and nameplates.

Stainless Steel Mirror Sheet FAQ

Common questions about our stainless steel mirror sheet answered by our technical team.

No. 8 mirror finish (also called #8 or 8K finish) is the highest standard reflective polish on stainless steel sheet per ASTM A480. It is produced by progressively finer mechanical polishing or chemical wet polishing to achieve a non-directional, highly reflective surface. Surface roughness on a No. 8 finish is typically below Ra 0.2 microns.

Mirror finish stainless steel sheet comes in thicknesses from 0.3 mm to 6.0 mm. Common gauges are 24 GA (0.6 mm), 22 GA (0.8 mm), 20 GA (0.9 mm), 18 GA (1.2 mm), 16 GA (1.5 mm), and 14 GA (1.9 mm). Thinner gauges suit wall cladding and elevator panels. Thicker sheets at 3.0 mm and above are used for countertops, heavy-duty signage, and structural decorative panels.

6K is a semi-mirror finish with moderate reflectivity where faint polishing lines may still be visible. 8K (equivalent to No. 8 per ASTM A480) is the standard mirror finish with high, non-directional reflectivity. 10K is a super mirror finish with enhanced clarity achieved through additional polishing stages. The higher the number, the finer the surface and the greater the reflectivity.

No. 8 mirror finish is produced through progressively finer mechanical polishing followed by buffing with rouge compound. Wet polishing (chemical polishing) produces a true non-directional mirror surface that is cleaner at the microscopic level and more resistant to bacterial adhesion than dry-polished alternatives.

Yes. We offer mirror polished stainless steel cut to size from our facility in Khopoli. Standard sheet sizes include 4x8 ft (1219x2438 mm), 4x10 ft (1219x3048 mm), and 5x10 ft (1524x3048 mm). Custom dimensions are available on request above minimum order quantity, with a cut-to-size tolerance of +/-1/16 in (+/-1.5 mm).

Single-side mirror polish is the standard for most architectural and decorative applications. Double-side mirror polish (both sides polished to No. 8 finish) is available on request. Signage panels, decorative screens, and art installations use double-side mirror stainless steel sheet.

Stainless steel mirror sheet price changes with base material, thickness, mirror finish quality (6K, 8K, 10K, or Super Mirror), sheet dimensions, and order quantity. Single-side versus double-side polish and PE film type also affect the final cost. Contact us for current pricing based on your specific requirements.

Yes. Mirror finish stainless steel sheet suits outdoor applications. Higher chloride-resistant variants are recommended for coastal or high-humidity locations due to their superior resistance to atmospheric corrosion. Regular cleaning with mild detergent and water extends the outdoor service life of the reflective surface.
